Little did Don DeVries and his son and daughter, Nick and Jennifer, realize when they began studying martial arts nearly twenty years ago, how great a role their lessons would ultimately play in their lives. After training for several years and taking part in many competitions, the DeVries family decided to open All American Karate Studio in 1994 so they could share what they had learned with others. We met with Don and Jennifer recently, and listened as they provided this overview of All American Karate Studio's offerings;
All American Karate Studio is an American Kenpo Karate school specializing in the teaching the principles self defense to students young and old. We have a self defense technique applicable for every situation that any woman, man, or child could possible encounter. We offer individual and group lessons for adults and group classes for children, in addition to classes in mixed Martial Arts, grappling, aerobic kickin' body sculpting, tournament and competition training, and weapons. We have a spacious training facility which includes a large floor area, punching and kicking bags, free weights, and other exercise equipment, and our highly qualified instructors have trained and produced several State, National, and World Champions.
We are a family owned and operated facility that treats each of our students as members of our own family. We have seen many of our students grow from children into college students, some of whom are now black belts themselves and instructors at our studio. We have entire families come here together with the children studying martial arts while their mothers are enrolled in our aerobic kickin' body sculpting and their fathers work out on the free weights.
Nick is a National Champion in Weapons and Sparring and Jennifer is an NBL World Champion in Women's Black Belt Team fighting, and has earned several State and National Championships in Adult Black Belt Weapons, Kata, and Women's Sparring.
